Which ethnic minorities live in and around Sapa? Why are terraces built into the sides of the mountains? How do you say ‘hello’ in Hmong language?

Sapa Hill Tribes

The mountain town of Sapa lies at 1500m above sea level in the north west of Vietnam close to the borders with China and Laos. It is home to a great diversity of ethnic minorities who work the land primarily for rice and corn. This trip is designed to give students a real taste of life in the mountains. From exploring Sapa town to learning about a taking part in craft activities and cooking workshops, students will come away with a rich experience of the way of life for the people living there. The trip culminates with a breath-taking cable car ride to the peak of Mount Fansipan at 3,143 metres above sea level. Trips to Sapa include a certain amount of hiking but this can be easily adjusted to suit ages and fitness levels.

All our trips can be adapted or amended to meet the needs and curriculum requirements of students (IB/GSCE or other).
